Individual Psychologict and
Couple's Counselling
If two people wish to continue their relationship but would like to improve the way they communicate and connect with each other, couples counselling may be worth considering. One internationally recognized approach to couples therapy is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Developed in the 1980s, EFT is an evidence-based approach grounded in attachment theory and informed by research based on recordings of real therapy sessions with couples. Rather than focusing on blame or determining who is right or wrong, EFT helps couples identify and change negative interaction patterns that create distance and conflict. The goal is to foster greater emotional safety, understanding, and openness, making it possible to build a stronger and more secure connection. Rather than focusing on blame or determining who is right or wrong, EFT helps couples identify and change negative interaction patterns that create distance and conflict. The goal is to foster greater emotional safety, understanding, and openness, making it possible to build a stronger and more secure connection.

Examples of situations where couple therapy can help:

  • You would like to break recurring patterns of conflict and arguments.
  • You want to strengthen emotional closeness and connection.
  • There has been an affair, but both partners wish to continue the relationship and work through its impact together. For EFT to be effective in these circumstances, the affair must have ended.

There are also situations in which Emotionally Focused Therapy may not be the most suitable approach. During the first sessions, we will discuss your expectations and consider together whether this therapeutic method is a good fit for your needs.
